Do you constantly feel as though you have no control over situations or that others are out to get you? Or do you feel as though bad things keep happening to you no matter what you do? If you find yourself blaming others for events or situations in your life, you may be struggling with what is known as “victim-mentality”.

In addition, you may take things personally even when they are not directed at you. Thoughts like “What did I do to deserve this?” and being resentful a lot of the time is quite common too.

This could have been a result of a wrong time in your life or experienced trauma, but you had no coping strategies at the time and developed this opposing viewpoint or victim mindset. This led you to believe that life happens to you and that you have no responsibility in your life.

If you feel that way, don't worry — I've been there too in the past, and you are capable of shifting yourself to become the “victor” rather than the “victim” in all situations. Read through to understand the “victim-mentality.”
